What is InvestAcademy?  InvestAcademy is a tuition-based college-level class open to the general public. The course is designed to answer some of the most vexing issues facing investors:

  • How can I cut through the avalanche of information available to investors today?
  • What are the most important factors that I should focus on when making investment decisions?
  • Is there a time–effective way to monitor my decisions?
  • How can I avoid Wall Street's self-serving biases and make objective, high-probability decisions for my benefit?

Who should attend?  InvestAcademy is suitable for investors who

  • Want to do a better job managing their investments
  • Want an objective “second opinion” of an advisors advice
  • Feel they need a way to control the risk in their personal or 401(k) investment
  • Feel that they "have no friends on Wall Street."  In other words, the advice you've received has seemed to favor your broker, not you.

How long is InvestAcademy?  InvestAcademy consists of two parts, for a total of 6 ½ hours of instruction.

  • The first part is 5 ½ hours of classroom instruction.
  • The second part is a 1-hour one-on-one tutorial, set by appointment.

Classroom time is dedicated to learning the 7-factor scorecard, understanding what defines the success or failure of investment decisions, and hands-on practice of “point and figure” charting and case examples. These factors are summarized in a pair of investment scorecards (one for stocks, the other for mutual funds) that rank securities by likely probability of success.

Tutorial time is dedicated to enhancing the student’s understanding of the scorecards learned in the class. The one-on-one tutorials are set by appointment.

Is anything else being sold?  No. The class is educational only.

How much does InvestAcademy cost?  Tuition is $ 99 per person, and $ 49 for each additional person (e.g. spouse or friend). This covers the class, tutorial, parking, and all materials.

How do I register for InvestAcademy?  To register, call us at (303) 771-5002 or go to registration instructions.  Complete the attached registration form and send it to Praxis with the appropriate tuition (see previous question). You will receive confirmation, map, and parking instructions by return mail. Pre-registration is required.

Should I bring my 401(k) or brokerage account information to class?   No. The classes are designed to teach general principles. It would be inappropriate to discuss a particular account in the class; however, students can certainly suggest particular securities or situations to serve as examples.

Should I bring my 401(k)/brokerage information to the tutorial?  You may.  The tutorial is intended to reinforce and review the skills learned in the class.  Applying the InvestAcademy scorecard to investments you already own is a great way to prepare for the tutorial.

Should I bring paper, pens, and a calculator?  A textbook with class notes and/or calculation examples will be provided to all attendees, with ample room for note taking. Please bring your own pens and calculators.

What’s the maximum number of attendees?  Each class is limited to 35 students.

Where is InvestAcademy being held?  We hold the class on the University of Denver campus.  Map and directions to the specific classroom will be sent with your confirmation.

InvestAcademy is not sponsored by or affiliated with Colorado Seminary or the University of Denver.

What about parking?  Parking is in the garage adjacent to the classroom. You will be provided a physical dashboard permit to enter for the day, and the cost is included in your tuition.
